Combining a fabric-first design approach alongside renewable technologies, the house has been conceived with energy efficiency at its core. The house makes use of ASHP, underfloor heating and solar panels alongside super-insulation and triple glazed windows.
To reference the village setting, the design adopts a contemporary take on a simple pitched roof form. The T-shaped floor plan reflects the arrangement of traditional farm buildings in the area and provides a courtyard parking area to one side with private garden to the other, the latter being orientated to afford expansive views over the surrounding countryside out towards Belvoir Castle.
Local vernacular materials including brickwork and timber cladding sit comfortably alongside a sleek standing seam zinc roof and exposed steelwork above glazed openings.
An open and flexible layout incorporates double height spaces which are contrasted with more intimate rooms, providing the owners with a mix of spaces to suits their needs. The privacy of the house’s location enables generous areas of glazing to flood the living spaces with natural light as well as frame views of the surrounding landscape. Large glass panels slide into the walls and seamlessly connect inside and out.
