Mike leads AJA's Housing Developments team, specialising in the design and delivery of residential schemes for housing associations, private developers and public sector clients. With extensive experience delivering sustainable, affordable and social housing projects, he works closely with clients to create high-quality homes that respond to the needs of residents and communities.

Mike joined AJA as an architect in 1998 after studying at Newcastle University and the University of Nottingham and is now an Associate Director and member of the RIBA. Over his career, he has developed long-standing relationships with repeat clients, delivering a wide range of housing projects from affordable homes and specialist accommodation to larger residential developments.

His approach is grounded in understanding what clients need from a development, balancing quality, sustainability, budget and buildability. Mike understands the challenges faced by housing associations and developers and is passionate about creating homes that are commercially deliverable while improving the lives of the people who live in them.

Mike believes great housing design is often found in the details. Small decisions around layout, daylight, materials, landscape and the relationship between homes and shared spaces can have a significant impact on residents' wellbeing and quality of life. He particularly enjoys working on affordable and social housing projects where thoughtful design can make a genuine difference.
