Mihika joined AJA as a Senior Architectural Designer in 2020 and became an Architect in 2025. She gained a BArch at Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA) in Mumbai, in 2012 and MSc in Architecture (Sustainable and Resilient Strategies) – KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture in Ghent, Belgium in 2019.

Mihika decided to study architecture because it offered a blend of creativity which she loved and technical aspects which she was good at so it was a perfect fit.

Her favourite part of her job is researching the background of sites for planning applications, especially ones with some heritage context i.e. looking at old maps, reading about the history of towns and buildings and their development over time. She finds it very satisfying when all her findings come together in the design. She also cares passionately about building for vulnerable communities because of the positive social impact that architecture can have.

Although her answer changes all the time, currently, Mihika’s favourite building is De Krook which is the public library in Ghent where she studied. Although she doesn’t think it’s the most beautiful building, having spent almost entire days in it she feels like it just works very efficiently for its intended purpose. There’s only one path you can take to get anywhere in the building so walking through is always a bit of an experience. It’s completely open plan but still somehow manages to have quiet corners where you can sit down and focus. And it’s practically all glass walls which means it has some of the best views of the city.

When she’s not at work, Mihika likes walks in the Peak District, experimenting with food, trying out new art forms and  drawing up grand plans for her newly acquired garden.
