Lucia joined AJA in October 2015 as an Architect and is now one of our Associates. Having worked on and managed a wide variety of large scale education and commercial projects, she is also our Education and Commercial Lead. She has designed and delivered many striking, contemporary buildings which have been award winning and which our clients are extremely proud of.

She graduated with distinction from the university ‘G. d’Annunzio’ of Chieti-Pescara (Ud’A) in 2013. She was offered the Erasmus Mundus scholarship at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture in Lyon, where she studied for 11 months and completed her final year project. Her thesis explored how architectural design can introduce new ways of inhabiting spaces in harmony with the environment. It received the first prize from the International Award “RI.U.SO. 2013” competition, followed by the national award “France Trophées Jeunes Talents Architecture”.

Prior to joining the practice, she worked in an award-winning practice based in Rome and then spent a short period of time in Milan working on the Italian EXPO Pavilion 2015, where she gained experience working on a variety of projects such as museums, schools, community, and mixed-use building. She has been ARB registered since 2017.

Lucia's expertise and passion lies in leading projects from concept all the way through to delivery.  She has very strong design skills and always strives to create stunning and thoughtful architecture, expressed through meticulous attention to detail. As an architect, she is committed to doing her part in making the world a better, more beautiful, and more sustainable place to live in, where her work can enrich people’s lives and positively influence society. 

Lucia doesn’t have a specific favourite building but there are 3 projects which she visited that really left a mark and shaped her architectural believes: Tadao Ando’s Chichu Art Museum, located on the art island of Noshima; Ryue Nishizawa’s Teshima Art Museum on the island of Teshima and Fallingwater house by Frank Lloyd Wright. She believes these 3 masterpieces exceed the notion of architecture as they extend themselves into the realms of art and nature with their simplicity, harmony and timeless beauty.

Away from the studio, Lucia likes travelling and loves visiting architectural masterpieces all over the world. She also enjoys visiting art, design and architecture exhibitions so she can stay constantly informed on current trends and influences. She is passionate about pizza and constantly practises to make the perfect one and has even given the whole team a pizza making masterclass!
