Allan Joyce Architects believe that the design of the landscape is fundamental to making the building fit the site. The landscape design is considered at a very early stage of the design process so that it is not regarded as "the space left over" at the end. The orientation of the landscaped areas is crucial to the overall enjoyment of the building, since the outdoor spaces can themselves be regarded as "rooms" to be enjoyed, each with a different character depending on when they catch the sun, view, shelter etc etc.

Anna Joyce is our landscape consultant who has had many years of experience in both the private and public sector. She can advise on landscape for projects designed by AJA as well as providing an independent service. Illustrated is a scheme for roof planting on a green roof which incorporates plants that can withstand drought conditions.

Anna can also provide a service to buy the plants and undertake the planting.
