We have recently submitted the planning application for a new outdoor hub at Calke Abbey for the National Trust. The new building will provide facilities for visitors wishing to explore the extensive grounds, including a café, cycle hire point and toilets. The single storey building is split into functional uses on the north, clad externally in cedar shingles, and the visitor facilities on the south, clad externally in larch boarding. The building materials will be sourced locally where possible, with the larch boarding manufactured from trees grown and felled on the Calke Estate.
