Interior Fit Out to a New Build Extra Care Scheme

Client: Milecastle Housing
Completed: 2010

Budget: Undisclosed

Allan Joyce Architects were appointed to undertake the interior design and furniture fit out of the communal spaces and marketing suite at a new build extra care scheme in Prudhoe, near Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. The development consists of forty six two bedroom apartments and a series of leisure and activity spaces.

The design takes inspiration from the surrounding landscape and the spectacular views across the Tyne valley. Plants are integrated into the main communal spaces as a central focus. This theme is continued in the autumnal shades chosen for the wall and floor finishes, which are combined with bright and colourful textures, used to create an attractive and welcoming environment.

The main lounge and restaurant spaces are divided into smaller cluster areas with informal grouping of furniture, separated by geometric planted screens. The window dressing and soft furnishings were sourced from UK manufacturers, with fabrics chosen from rich luscious ranges to enhance the quality and feel of the spaces.
