Allan Joyce Architects, have received Full Planning Approval for a new build Extra Care development in Leafield, Retford in Bassetlaw. The development is being procured on behalf of Nottinghamshire Council Council who have committed £12.65m of capital funding for several Extra Care housing schemes across the county.

The new build accommodation is designed to current best practice guidelines HAPPI 2 (Housing our Ageing Population: Plan for Implementation). It will be available to people aged 55 years and over and offers a range of flexible space and facilities depending on the support they need. There are sixty-three apartments and thirty bungalows; all will have access to the shared bowling green and landscaped gardens, café, craft room, hair and beauty area and therapy room. These facilities create a sense of community and help people to develop their own support networks, which enables them to invite their friends to join them for wellbeing clinics, go for a coffee, or play a game of bowls, all at their front door.
