New Build Extra Care, Day Care and Respite Facilities

Client: Nottinghamshire County Council Social Services
Completed: 2006

Budget: £3m

Following the closure of the existing local residential/day care facility in Southwell, Nottinghamshire County Council were keen to locate the new facility nearby. This joint development procured by Anchor Trust and NCC created Moorfield Court, 43 extra care apartments designed to lifetime home standards and The Three Spires; a 20 place day care facility with a small respite unit of 6 residential rooms.

Allan Joyce Architects were appointed to provide both pre & post contract architectural services. The Apartments are designed around their own central activity space and incorporated the latest technology in care solutions

We were also employed as interior designers to create a bright and welcoming building for residents and a comfortable area for day visitors. The day care unit has a reception, lounge and dining area, with an assisted bathing room. The proposals for the interior design use bold colours with coordinating fabrics and furnishings to create a contemporary and visually interesting environment. Completed in 2006.
